LOOKING YOUNG

SIX MAKEUP TIPS TO LOOK YOUNGER

These aren’t just make-up mistakes those over 25 years shouldn’t sport, but they can actually make you look considerably older. Turn them on their head, and you can look five years younger in an instant. Here’s how:

1. Go easy on foundation

Too much foundation is wrong on anyone, no matter what your age. It looks cloggy, muddy and well, just overly made up. As though you’re trying to hide something. Worst of all, it’s ageing.
Lighten up your look by applying just a second-skin amount, building up coverage where you need it, and leaving it more on the sheer side where you don’t. You could even try mixing foundation with a little moisturiser before applying it, for  “your-skin-but-better” finish.

2. Skip powder

A matte finish is one thing; caked on powder that settles into fine lines and enhances them is altogether another. Skip powder in favour of a hydrating, velvet-finish foundation formula

3. Lighten up on mascara

Overdoing mascara is ageing and harsh, particularly if you use black, or go all out with colour and wear green or blue. Alternatively, a light coat or two of a natural but defining brown shade creates a wide-awake, natural and youthful eye. .

4. Avoid shimmer, frost and sparkle

Once again, these things looks gorgeous on girls under 25, but on a woman, they can be super ageing. Swap them for soft, matte tones and neutral hues for a fresh faced, youthful look.

5. Steer clear of matte lipstick

Matte lipstick is not only drying on the lips, it can make them appear thinner, which is automatically ageing. It can also emphasise any lines hat you may have around the mouth. Instead, slick on a cream-formula lipstick that has a little gloss to it.

6. Ditch liquid liner

As with overdoing mascara, liquid liner can look harsh and ageing. Better instead to gently smudge soft, brown kohl or cream liner to the outer rims of your eyes, outer corner only, to create a bright-eyed, fresh look.
